My sculptural books are intimate containers of image and words that offer one on one interaction. Unlike a painting on a wall, they reveal and illuminate by opening, handling and reading. I love the alchemy of turning flat materials into 3-dimensional sculpture that meld content with the structure and design of each book. There are numerous display possibilities: opened in different arrangements or even laid flat, waiting and ready to transform and surprise the viewer. Subject matter for my books usually originates from my field sketchbook pages of watercolor and written notes of real moments and places in nature. My aim is to successfully integrate the subject or idea with the structure used, creating unique combinations of art and craft.
